European Starlings rest on the back and head of a Bighorn Ram. Starlings were introduced into North America about 110 years ago and are found throughout the continent today. I didn't see any activity by these starlings that indicated they were getting ticks or parasites from the sheep's back, but the Ram seemed quite tolerant of them.
